Jagraon Gas Factory: Coordination Committee forms to address concerns

People are protesting strongly by forming barricades, but the government is not listening.

Punjab: A meeting of the Coordination Struggle Committee was held in Jagraon regarding the ongoing struggle against gas factories. In the meeting, a coordinated struggle committee was formed against polluting gas factories. Representatives from Bhuddi, Akhara, Ghungrali Rajputs and Mushkabad participated in the meeting.

During this, the Coordination Committee took a decision and announced to hold a protest outside the DC office on June 11. Apart from thousands of farmers, thousands of people from villages will also participate in this protest.

Coordination Struggle Committee convenor Sukhdev Singh Bhundri said that a detailed meeting was held with ADC Major Amit Sarin. The ADC has assured that he will personally visit the Ghungrali Rajput factory and solve the problem. In the memorandum submitted to him by the Coordination Struggle Committee, it has been said that due to the gas factories, people’s lives and property have been endangered on a large scale.

Fluid, pollution and diseases will spread in the area. These factories are very close to the population. The chaos created by the factory in Ghungrali Rajputan (near Khanna) in the area is in front of everyone. But despite this, neither this factory is being closed nor the licenses of other factories under construction are being cancelled.

People are protesting strongly by forming barricades, but the government is not listening. There was almost complete boycott of the Lok Sabha elections in the villages with fixed barricades and in other villages of these areas too, people boycotted the elections on a large scale.

Now the struggle is being intensified by forming a coordination committee. They have appealed to all justice-loving public organizations, intellectuals, social workers of Punjab to strongly support their struggle and join the huge protest to be held on June 11.
