Chandigarh: The counting of votes cast for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 is at its last phase. Soon there will be confirmation on the names of winning candidates. If we talk about Punjab, Congress has secured a big lead on 7 seats in the initial trends whereas on the other hand the ruling Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab is currently lagging.
So far, AAP candidate Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer from Sangrur and Charanjit Singh Channi from Jalandhar have been declared winners in Punjab.
Before the Lok Sabha elections, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had claimed that AAP would win all the Lok Sabha seats in Punjab, but in the current trend, this claim of the Chief Minister remained a mere claim.
AAP’s defeated Cabinet Ministers
Aam Aadmi Party had fielded 5 cabinet ministers in the Lok sabha elections. As per the trends, four ministers of Punjab had to face defeat. MLA from Barnala and Cabinet Minister Meet Hayer was able to win the election from Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency.
Dr. Balbir Singh from Patiala, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal from Amritsar, Laljit Singh Bhullar from Khadur Sahib and Gurmeet Singh Khudiya from Bathinda were in the fray, but they all have lost their seats.
