Gurdaspur: A sugar mill in Gurdaspur’s Paniar caught fire late at night due to strong storm. Due to which the mill has suffered a loss of 2 to 2.5 lakhs. As soon as the information about the fire was received, 3 to 4 fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and with great difficulty the fire was controlled.
The cause of the fire is said to be storm. Sugar Mill Paniar’s GM Sarabjit Hundal said that due to the storm late at night, a sudden fire broke out in Sugar Mill Paniar.
He said that it was fortunate that the fire did not reach inside, due to which a major accident was averted. He said that due to the fire, the wood lying outside got burnt, due to which the mill has suffered a loss of about two to two and a half lakhs.
On the other hand, as soon as the Dinanagar police station got the information, station chief Harpreet Singh reached the spot and the fire brigade was immediately informed in this regard. 3 to 4 fire engines reached the spot and with great difficulty controlled the fire.
