Married woman dies of poisoning in Hisar

In-laws used to beat her for dowry; married in 2019, was mother of two children.

Hisar: A married woman died under suspicious circumstances in Niana village of Hisar, Haryana. Her maternal family members allege that her in-laws beat their daughter and forcibly made her drink poisonous substance. The married woman was admitted to a private hospital in Hisar since June 6. She died on Saturday night. On the statement of the family, Sadar police station has registered a case under sections 304B, 323, 328 against 6 people including husband Dharamveer. Police is investigating. The body was handed over to the family after postmortem on Sunday.

According to the information, Mamta (26), a resident of Roopgarh village of Jind, was married to Dharamveer of Niana village in the year 2019.

After marriage, they have two children. Ramesh from Mamta’s maternal side said that since the marriage, people from her in-laws’ side used to quarrel and beat Mamta. Panchayat had been held several times in this regard.

After the settlement in the Panchayat, Mamta’s husband used to take her to his house. According to the family members, Mamta’s husband Dharamvir, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and sister-in-law’s husband used to beat her and harass her. On June 6, Mamta’s family was told that Mamta had consumed some poisonous substance. After this, the family reached Hisar.

Mamta’s uncle Ramesh told that Mamta was forcibly given poison. After that she was admitted to the hospital. When they reached the hospital after getting the information, Mamta was on ventilator. He told that marks were found on Mamta’s ears and neck. At present, Sadar police station has registered a case against the husband and others on the basis of the statement. The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem at the Civil Hospital of Hisar on Sunday.
