Ram Rahim again seeking furlough from HC to attend program at Dera Sacha Sauda

Once again, Dera Sacha chief Ram Rahim has requested a 21-day furlough in the Punjab-Haryana High Court, citing an upcoming program at Dera Sacha Sauda.

Chandigarh: Once again, Dera Sacha chief Ram Rahim has requested a 21-day furlough in the Punjab-Haryana High Court, citing an upcoming program at Dera Sacha Sauda.

The High Court responded sternly, suggesting he postpone the program instead of pressuring the court. The petition will now be heard by the bench of the acting Chief Justice in July, continuing an ongoing case.

This marks the first general elections in Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan without Ram Rahim’s presence, as the government refrained from granting him parole due to court directives.

Previously, he had been out for 192 days through furloughs and paroles since 2022, actively participating in various elections. The SGPC had filed a petition opposing his frequent releases, leading to a court order restricting the state government from considering his parole without court permission.

The High Court has issued notices to the Haryana government and SGPC regarding Ram Rahim’s petition, seeking their responses. The hearing has been adjourned until July 2, pending a decision by the High Court on his application.
