Body of youth drowns in Yamuna found in Palwal

He had gone to take a bath on Sunday; NDRF and local divers were searching.

Palwal: A 16-year-old youth drowned in the Yamuna River while taking a bath on the occasion of the Dussehra festival of Jyeshtha month in Palwal, Haryana. As soon as the information was received, the NDRF team reached the spot. Local divers and the NDRF team were engaged in searching for the youth. On Monday morning, the NDRF team recovered the body of the missing youth from near Satuagarhi village and handed it over to the local police.

According to Hasanpur police station in-charge Ajit Nagar, the family of Rajesh, a resident of Chhajjunagar village, had gone to take a bath in the Yamuna River on the occasion of the Dussehra festival of Jyeshtha month.

While taking a bath in the river, Rajesh’s 16-year-old son Anmol got swept away in the river and drowned in the water within no time. When people raised an alarm, local divers tried to search for Anmol but could not find him. After this, the NDRF team was called to the spot after receiving information from the police.

The NDRF team started searching for Anmol in Yamuna, but no trace of Anmol could be found until late Sunday night. After which, the NDRF team again started searching for Anmol on Monday morning. On Monday, NDRF divers recovered his body about 250–300 meters away from where Anmol drowned while bathing near the Satuagarhi flyover.

The NDRF team recovered the body and handed it over to Hasanpur police. The police took action under 174 CrPC on the statement of the deceased’s family and handed over the body to his family after the post-mortem.
