Controversy over Haryana’s HCS recruitment

Questions were raised about the 'line-wise' candidates selected; Surjewala said the government needs to disclose officers' numbers, lists, and addresses.

Chandigarh: Rajya Sabha MP and Congress General Secretary Randeep Surjewala has raised questions regarding Haryana’s HCS recruitment. He has raised questions on the recruitment of ‘line wise’ candidates in HCS recruitment. Attacking the BJP government, he said that SC-BC youth have been deliberately deprived in this recruitment. Along with this, to hide the recruitment of people from outside Haryana, the BJP government is not disclosing the ‘number’, ‘list’ and ‘address’ of the selected HCS officers in a conspiratorial manner.

He has said that the Haryana government advertised for appointment to 121 posts in the 2023 HCS recruitment. 87,000 candidates applied. 1,706 candidates passed the HCS main exam. 275 candidates were called for interview. On June 14, 2024, the marks of 275 candidates were released, but till date 3 questions have not been answered. He has sought answers to these questions.

Many candidates who sat in a series in the HCS main exam, i.e. sitting in front and behind in a room and having simultaneous interviews, got selected. Out of 275 candidates who sat for the interview, a candidate who got 345 marks (general category) got selected in HCS. Surjewala has raised questions on the selected roll numbers 2311, 2313, 2314, 2317, 2318, 2322, 2325, 2329, 2330, 2332, 2333, 2335, 2338, 2342 apart from 2301, 2302, 2304. He has cited the NEET exam behind this. In this exam, 8 toppers were found sitting in front and behind each other.

Surjewala had raised the following serious questions regarding SC-BC candidates on June 15, 2024. He has said that why were 9 out of 31 SC reserved posts left vacant. Why were 14 out of 20 SC reserved posts left vacant in the 2022 HCS recruitment?

Similarly, why were 7 out of 10 BC (A) posts left vacant in the 2022 HCS recruitment? Why were 7 out of 7 reserved posts for BC (B) category recruited after calling 8 children for interview? Why were 3 times the number of children not called for interview in proportion to the posts? Why were 4 out of 5 BC (B) posts left vacant in the 2022 HCS recruitment?

The posts of SC, BC (A), BC (B) are not being filled, or three times the number of candidates are not being called for interview, recruitment of favourites from outside Haryana in the general category has now become a common thing. This is the reason why the BJP government is neither disclosing the number of selected HCS candidates, nor giving their list, nor is it disclosing the address of the selected candidates because every outside candidate must have been recruited by whitewashing, hence the ‘number’, ‘list’ and ‘address’ of the selected HCS officers is not being disclosed.
