Farmers’ protest continues at Ladowal toll plaza for third day, commuters passing for free

Tax savings for the public amount to around 2 crore rupees, while the toll company has sustained the same loss.

Ludhiana: Punjab’s most expensive toll plaza Ladowal will remain free for the third day today. Farmers have been sitting at this toll for the last 2 days.

Yesterday, administrative officials and NHAI project director Navratna also met the farmers. So far, about 80 thousand vehicles have passed through the free toll plaza in two days. The protest of farmers on the toll plaza is against the hiked toll fees. It should be noted that Ladowal toll plaza is the most expensive toll plaza of the state.

Tax savings for the public amount to around 2 crore rupees, while the toll company has sustained the same loss.

The farmers have clearly told the officials that even if they take 1 month’s time from them, the protest will end only when the central government fulfills their demand. The farmers demand that toll should be taken at the toll plaza at the old rate of Rs 150 per vehicle.

Dharna held to stop looting of the public

Farmer Union chief Dilbag Singh said that farmers are sitting on a dharna at the toll plaza today for the general public. The vehicles of the farmers themselves easily pass through the toll plaza without paying tax by showing the Kisan Card, but today the farmers themselves are fighting the battle of the public.
