New Delhi : The Supreme Court today heard the petition related to grace marks on the NEET scam. This case was placed before the vacation bench of Justice Nath and Justice Bhatti. The court said – If there is even 0.001% negligence on someone’s part, then it should be dealt with completely. The children have prepared for the exam, we cannot forget their hard work.
The bench also told the government and NTA that imagine that a person who cheats the system becomes a doctor, he is even more dangerous for the society.
The petitions related to the scam have been listed for hearing on July 8. Lawyers have also been instructed to argue on all the matters on the same day.
Earlier, while hearing three petitions on June 11, the Supreme Court had issued a notice to NTA and refused to stop the counseling process.
On June 13, the central government had said in the Supreme Court that the scorecards of 1563 candidates who got grace marks will be cancelled. And scorecards will be issued without grace marks.
On June 4, the National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the NEET result. This is the first time that 67 candidates have got 720 out of 720 marks.
Why did the controversy arise after the result?
There is no mention of grace marking in the NEET information bulletin. NTA also did not give this information while releasing the result. After the result, the candidates raised questions, then NTA told that some children have been given grace marks due to ‘loss of time’. NTA did not say anything about the formula under which grace marks were given.
Re-examination of 1563 candidates on June 23 However, after the dispute reached the court, NTA had told the Supreme Court on June 13 that the score cards of 1563 candidates who got grace marks will be cancelled.
The re-examination will be conducted on June 23. The result will be declared on June 30. For students who do not wish to appear in the exam, the final score card will be issued after deducting grace marks from their marks.
