Fatehgarh Sahib: In the wake of the western disturbance, stormy conditions prevailed in many areas of Punjab on Wednesday evening, followed by light rain. In an unfortunate incident, due to the strong winds an electricity pole fell on a person in Fatehgarh Sahib resulting his death. A tree was also uprooted along with the pole which fall on the person standing nearby.
The deceased has been identified as Satpal Kumar resident of Sirhind.
Giving information in this regard, Charanjit Singh, the brother of the deceased said that his brother Satpal Kumar had gone to buy his mother’s medicine. On the way due to a strong wind, a tree fell on an electric pole near Sirhind railway station.
The pole fell on his brother after which he was buried under the electric pole. Nearby people gathered and pulled him out and rushed him to the Hospital. After seeing his condition, doctors of the civil hospital referred him to PGI Chandigarh. Later on the way to Chandigarh, he died. The family of the deceased also alleged that if an ambulance had come soon, then he could have been saved.
