Shimla: The world’s most difficult religious Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra will commence from 14 to 27 July this time. Last year this journey started from July 7. Kullu district administration has started preparations for this journey. DC Kullu Torul S. Ravish has given instructions to the officials for the preparations of this religious journey.
To make this journey easy, the Shrikhand Trust Committee and the district administration have decided to build base camps at five places. In the first stop, a base camp will be built in Singhgad. Apart from this, base camps will be built in Thachdu, Kunsha, Bhimdwar and Parvati Bagh. In this, apart from sector magistrates and police officers / in-charges with them, medical staff and rescue teams will also be deployed.

For the first time in this Yatra, the unit of the rescue team SDRF will be deployed in Parvati Bagh, because due to the narrow and dangerous path, many unwanted accidents happen during this journey. Especially due to rain, this journey is hindered.
Portal created for online registration
An online registration portal has been created for devotees coming from outside states. No devotee will be sent to Shrikhand without registration.
Oxygen shortage occurs many times
To reach Shrikhand Mahadev at an altitude of 18,570 feet, devotees have to travel 32 kilometers on foot. Devotees also have to cross the ice glaciers on narrow paths. Due to high altitude, the oxygen level also decreases here many times. Due to this, devotees have to face difficulties.
There are some areas ahead of Parvati Bagh, where some devotees face huge problems due to lack of oxygen. If in such a situation, such devotees are not treated or brought down in time. Due to this, many devotees are forced to return without having darshan of Lord Shiv.
Last year, Yatra was postponed after heavy rains
The Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra had to be cancelled after three days due to heavy rains last year. During the last rains, the most devastation in the state was in Kullu district. This also affected this Yatra.
Devotees reach Shrikhand from all over the country
Apart from Himachal, a large number of devotees from every corner of the country and Nepal also reach for darshan in Shrikhand Yatra. Therefore, it will be a challenge for the district administration and Shrikhand Trust to ensure the safety of people’s lives.
