Haryana: EVMs of 2 LS seats will be checked: Both won by BJP; ECI’s decision on complaint of EVM tampering

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has taken seriously the complaint of EVM tampering in the elections on 2 Lok Sabha seats of Haryana. ECI has decided to get the EVMs of Karnal and Faridabad Lok Sabha seats checked.

Chandigarh: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has taken seriously the complaint of EVM tampering in the elections on 2 Lok Sabha seats of Haryana. ECI has decided to get the EVMs of Karnal and Faridabad Lok Sabha seats checked.

The Congress candidates had expressed apprehensions of tampering during the elections. A complaint was also made to the Commission regarding this.

Congress candidate from Karnal, Divyanshu Buddhiraja, had written a letter to the Election Commission demanding an investigation of EVMs. At the same time, Congress candidate from Faridabad Mahendra Pratap had also expressed apprehensions of tampering.

8 complaints of tampering received

The Election Commission of India has said that 8 applications were received for complaints of EVM tampering for the Lok Sabha General Elections 2024. These also included the names of Karnal and Faridabad Lok Sabha seats of Haryana.

Apart from Lok Sabha, 3 applications for state assembly elections also came after the results were announced. These included complaints of burnt memory of EVM, checking of microcontroller, verification.

BJP won both these seats

BJP candidates have won Karnal and Faridabad Lok Sabha seats. Manohar Lal Khattar, who was Haryana’s Chief Minister for nine and a half years, won from Karnal by defeating Congress candidate Divyanshu Buddhiraja. Now he has become a minister in the Modi cabinet.

At the same time, BJP had fielded Krishan Pal Gurjar as its candidate for Faridabad Lok Sabha seat. He won from here by defeating Mahendra Pratap Singh of Congress. Gurjar has also been made a minister of state for the third time in the Modi cabinet.
