Yoga Controversy at Golden temple: Jagmohan Singh Raju wrote to SGPC; if offering Namaz in Gurudwara premises is not sacrilegious, then why yoga is

An FIR has been filed against social media influencer Archana Makwana, who did yoga asanas at the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab on 21 June, i.e. International Yoga Day.

Amritsar: An FIR has been filed against social media influencer Archana Makwana, who did yoga asanas at the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab on 21 June, i.e. International Yoga Day.

This complaint was made by Golden Temple manager Bhagwant Singh. A case has been registered against Archana under section 295-A for hurting religious sentiments.

Influencer Archana Makwana, a resident of Gujarat, had posted some pictures of herself doing yoga at the Golden Temple on her social media account. After this, these photos went viral. As soon as this was known, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) expressed strong objection.

They suspended 3 employees on parikrama duty at the Golden Temple and ordered an inquiry. At the same time, a complaint was also given to the police for action against Archana Makwana. However, after knowing the displeasure of the people, Archana has apologized, but still an FIR has been registered against her.

Now BJP leader Jagmohan Singh Raju wrote a letter to SGPC regarding this:

He wrote that two days ago, I saw on social media a woman doing yoga on the Parikarama of Sri Harmandir Sahib Ji, the holiest shrine of Sikhs, Amritsar.

The image of this woman doing yoga with her back to Darshani Deori has hurt the religious sentiments of millions of Sikhs like me.

I strongly condemned this blasphemy in a post on my Facebook page. But now some people have asked this question on my post:

If it is sacrilegious to perform yoga in the Gurudwara, then why is it not sacrilegious to offer Namaz in the premises of Gurudwara?

If not, why didn’t the Shiromani Committee and Sri Akal Takht Sahib ji issue instructions to stop this practice.
