Odisha girl gang rape in Jalandhar

BBA student went out for a walk with friends, accused dressed as Nihangs kidnapped her; 3 arrested.

Jalandhar: A case of gang rape involving a student of LPU has come to light in Jalandhar, Punjab. The police of station Patara have arrested three accused. The victim student had gone out for a walk with her friends at night.

The Nihang-Baan accused threatened the student’s friends and drove them away. They said that they would drop her off at home. The accused took the said student in their car from the station Patara area to a deserted place and raped her. The accused fled from the spot, leaving the victim behind.

According to the information, the 24-year-old girl had come to study at Lovely  Professional University. She is originally from Odisha. On Monday night, she had come with her two friends to eat at the food cord late at night near Dhilwan Gate.

During this time, three young men were also with her. It was around 1 o’clock in the night. During this time, three youths arrived on bikes. Two of the accused were wearing Nihang Baan and had a dagger in their hand. As soon as the accused arrived, they started asking the girl’s companions where they were taking the girl alone. The accused intimidated the girl’s companions and asked them to back off.

After that, the two bike riders wearing Nihang Baans (costumes) forcibly made the girl sit with them and said that they would drop the girl home themselves. From there, the accused took the girl with them and raped her after finding a deserted place near the gate. After the rape, the accused left the girl there and fled.

After that, she told the whole story to her companions over the phone and called her friends. After this, the girl was admitted to the hospital, and the police of Patara police station were informed about the matter. The police arrested about three accused by morning.

According to the information received, the victim girl and all her students are BBA students. The SHO of Patara police station, Varinder Pal Singh, said that the police will soon present the three accused in court, take them on remand, and interrogate them.

The SHO said that one of the arrested accused works at a government water treatment plant. The second accused is a DAP student, and the third accused runs an electrical goods shop. All the accused have been given medical checkups at the Civil Hospital.
