Breaking: NEET-UG counselling deferred until further notice

New Delhi: In a recent development related to the NEET UG 2024, the counseling process has been deferred, as per official sources. The counseling process was to start from today, i.e. July 6 but now it is being said that the process has been deferred until further notice.

The counseling for NEET UG has been postponed by the Medical Counseling Commission i.e. MCC. So far no new date for counseling has been issued. NEET UG All India Quota Seats i.e. AIQ counseling was to start from today.

On June 11, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court demanding stop on NEET counseling. Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Asaduddin refused to hold the counseling after hearing. After this, while hearing another petition on June 20, Justice Vikram Nath’s bench again refused to ban NEET counseling.

Admission in MBBS and MDS courses is given through counseling. On the basis of NEET UG rank, admission is given in medical courses like MBBS and BDS.

The National Testing Agency, i.e. NTA declared the result of NEET UG on June 4. A total of 13.16 lakh students, including 67 toppers, passed the medical entrance exam. Then 1563 candidates who got grace marks were re-examined on 23 June. After the release of the revised result, the number of NEET UG toppers has come down from 67 to 61.
