SGPC objects on analogy created by Rahul Gandhi between ‘Abhay Mudra’ and Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s open raised palm

The philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji is of Ek Omkar in which Guru Sahib elevated the lowly, who were condemned at one time.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has objected to the comparison made by senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. Rahul during his first speech in Lok Sabha as LoP created an analogy between Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s hand gesture and Abhay Mudra. SGPC chief Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has advised to keep religion and politics away.

He also requested the Lok Sabha Speaker that no one should be allowed to show any kind of disrespect in the future. SGPC chief advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that a photo went viral in which Rahul Gandhi showed the picture of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Advocate Dhami refuting claims made by Rahul Gandhi said that Abhay Mudra has no connection with the Sikh religion. The philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji is of Ek Omkar in which Guru Sahib elevated the lowly, who were condemned at one time.

Taking notice of this in the meeting of the interim committee, it was clarified that the teachings of Guru Sahiban should not be made a part of political debate. Often political people do this and distort the fundamental principles of Guru Sahibs and the interpretation of Gurbani.

SGPC also requested the Lok Sabha Speaker that no one should be allowed to commit any disrespect in future. Abhay Mudra is not a principle of Guru Sahib. The holy principle is only the Golden Temple. No one’s caste is asked here.
