Shahpur: A BSF jawan from Sidhpur village adjoining Shahpur assembly constituency died in a road accident in Jammu. According to information, ASI Purushottam Singh’s (58) car crashed near Rajbagh in Kathua district and fell into the Ujh canal. The ASI died in this accident, while his two colleagues were rescued. Officials said that the rescue team managed to save two jawans, but Purushottam Singh was swept away in the strong current of the canal. After a lot of effort, he was recovered in critical condition.
The jawans immediately rushed him to the hospital, but the doctor declared him dead. As soon as the news of his death was received, a wave of mourning ran through the village. ASI Purushottam Singh left behind his mother, wife, daughter, and son alone. On Sunday morning, the body of the BSF jawan will be brought to his native village, Sidhpur, where he will be cremated.
