Sanath Jayasuriya to become coach of Sri Lankan team, replaced Chris Silverwood

Sanath Jayasuriya will be the coach of the Sri Lankan team during the T20 and ODI series against India. He himself gave this information to the news agency FP.

The post of head coach of the Sri Lankan team has been vacant since Chris Silver Wood left. After Sri Lanka’s poor performance in the T20 World Cup, head coach Chris Silver Wood and consultant coach Mahela Jayawardene left their posts. Silverwood has been the head coach of the Sri Lankan team since 2022.

Jayasuriya, while talking to the news agency on Monday, said that he will replace Chris Silverwood. The Sri Lanka Cricket Board had offered him to coach the team in the home T20 and ODI series against India and then on Sri Lanka’s tour of England, which he has accepted.


Team India will tour Sri Lanka at the end of this month. The Indian team has to play a series of three T20 matches first and then three ODIs from July 27 to August 7.

After that, Sri Lanka has to tour England at the end of August to play a three-Test series. The first Test is from 21 to 25 August, while the second Test is from 29 August to 2 September and the third Test is to be played from 6 to 9 September.
