After looking at the bodies, it seems that both of them had jumped into the canal a day or two after their marriage.

Ludhiana: In Ludhiana, Punjab, a young man and a young woman ran away from home and got married in love. After the love marriage, both of them informed their families about their marriage by sending photos on WhatsApp, but just 2 days later, the newlyweds committed suicide by jumping into the canal. The police have recovered the bodies of both of them, and after conducting a post-mortem, they have handed over the bodies to the families and started the next legal action.

The case is Kila Raikot under the Dahalo police station in Ludhiana. The young man Harshanjot Singh and the young woman Rajjot Kaur both ran away from home and got married on July 1, and after marriage, both of them sent their wedding photos together to their families so that they could know about the marriage. But just two days later, both of them jumped into the canal passing nearby.

SHO Gurpreet Singh of Dehlo police station, who is investigating the case, said that Baljit Singh, father of the girl Rajjot Kaur, lodged a complaint with him on June 30 that his 21-year-old daughter Rajjot Kaur was missing from home, and he suspected that Harshanjot Singh, a boy from the same village, had eloped with his daughter. The police had registered the complaint and started searching for both of them.

SHO Gurpreet Singh said that what happened after two days was that both of them jumped into the canal. A passerby told me that a dead body was floating in the Gdiga canal. When we went to the spot, we found that the body was that of the girl, Rajjot. The police recovered the body of the youth, Harshanjot, from the canal near Kanganwal.

SHO Gurpreet Singh said that the bodies were found on July 4, but looking at the bodies, it seems that both of them had jumped into the canal a day or two after their marriage. Both bodies had decomposed badly. After the post-mortem of both bodies, the bodies have been handed over to the family members. SHO Gurpreet Singh said that the police have started further action by taking the statement of the girl’s father, Baljeet Singh.
