Monsoon slows down in Himachal: 19% less rain than normal so far

The pace of monsoon has slowed down a bit in Himachal. The state has received 19 percent less rain than normal in the current monsoon season. Normal rainfall is 152.6 mm from June 1 to July 8, but this time only 123.6 mm of rain fell.

Except Kangra, Mandi and Shimla, all other districts have received less rain than normal. Lahaul Spiti and Sirmaur districts have received the least rainfall. Bilaspur district has received 18 percent less rain than normal.

Chamba district has also received 31 percent less rain than normal, Hamirpur 21 percent, Kinnaur 47 percent, Kullu 17 percent, Lahaul Spiti 55 percent, Sirmaur 52 percent, Solan 16 percent and Una district has received 39 percent less rain than normal.

More than normal rainfall in these districts

On the other hand, Kangra district received 2 percent more rainfall than normal, Mandi 8 percent and Shimla 12 percent more rainfall than normal.

Maximum rainfall in 24 hours in Naidun

During the last 24 hours, Naidun in Hamirpur received the highest rainfall of 34.5 mm. Bhavnagar received 32.8 mm, Nangal Dam 16.2 mm, Kasauli 15 mm, Jogendranagar 10 mm and Kotkhai 8.1 mm.

Weather will remain bad till July 15

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a forecast of rain at some places today and tomorrow. But there is a forecast of rain in most parts of the state on July 11 and 12. The weather will remain bad in the state till July 15.

42 roads closed after rain

More than 42 roads are closed in the state after the rain in the last few days and this morning. Among these, 35 roads are closed for a week. The Public Works Department is busy restoring these roads. Similarly, 121 electricity transformers are also closed in the state.
