Tarn Taran: In Tarn Taran distrcit of Punjab Police arrested three of Suraj’s henchmen and recovered 24 fake arms licenses, three blank copies of mobile arms licenses, and government stickers from their hideout.
Suraj Bhandari, the mastermind of this network, is said to be absconding with his partner, Raghav. After the arrest of the above accused, there has been a stir in the DC office. Many have gone on leave.
SSP Ashwini Kapoor said that it took his team two months to expose this network. The arrested accused have been identified as Pawandeep Singh, alias Mantri, a resident of village Mallian, Shamsher Singh, a resident of Jhander, and Gurmeet Singh, a resident of Phaloke, while the mastermind of the network and the district manager of the service center, Suraj Bhandari, a resident of village Kidi Shah, and Raghav Kapoor, a resident of Jaspal Nagar Amritsar, are absconding.
The surprising thing is that no one doubted their fake license and even the gun house owners used to sell weapons to the license holders based on this license.
It is believed that the said accused has made about 500 fake licenses so far, and the license holders have also bought weapons from the gun house. On learning about this, SP Ashwini Kapoor has appealed to those people to submit their licenses to the police and return the weapons; otherwise, they can also be punished. The said accused used to take one and a half to two lakh rupees for a license. Out of which, Suraj Bhandari used to take one lakh rupees, and the rest was divided among themselves.
SSP Ashwani Kapoor said that during the Lok Sabha elections, it came to his notice that some people associated with the DC office in the district were doing the business of making fake licenses, and from that day itself, he formed a team and started trying to break this network, and as the investigation progressed, the names of the accused started coming to the fore.
During this time, Pawandeep Singh, alias Minister Shamsher Singh, and Gurmeet Singh were arrested, and fake licenses were also recovered from their hideout. After interrogation, many more names have also come to the fore. SSP Ashwani Kapoor said that Suraj Bhandari was running the network in collaboration with some employees of the DC office. At present, Suraj Bhandari is absconding. After his arrest, many more faces and many more secrets related to this network will be revealed.
