Abohar: On Tuesday afternoon two friends from the neighbouring city of Sri Ganganagar drowned while bathing in the Gang Canal, situated on the Punjab-Rajasthan border. At the time of the incident, the third friend was standing outside and making a video. At present, the police are engaged in searching for both of them with the help of divers. The matter is being investigated by the police.
According to the information, Pankaj, son of Naresh, and Raju, resident of Basanti Chowk, Sri Ganga Canal, besides Manu, resident of Setia Farm, had all gone to take bath in Badi Gang Canal, situated on the Punjab-Rajasthan border, due to heat. It is said that Pankaj and Manu were bathing in the canal holding the pipe, while Raju was standing outside and making a video of them. Meanwhile, suddenly the pipe broke, and Pankaj and Manu were swept away in the strong flow of water.
When Raju shouted, people gathered at the spot, and they informed the police and the family about the incident. As soon as the information was received, the police team reached the spot on the directions of Jawahar Nagar police station in-charge Davinder of Sri Ganganagar and started the search operation with the help of divers, but even after 7 hours, Pankaj and Manu have not been found yet.
Police station in-charge Davinder said that he had received information about the drowning of two youths, and based on this information, they are being searched with the help of divers. The police will take whatever action is required based on the statements of the family members in this case.
At the same time, SM Anil Kumar, Raj Kumar, Govind Swami, Bhajan Lal, Hansraj, Vijay Kumar, Manjeet Singh, Ravi Kumar, Manoj Kumar, etc. of the Civil Defense Department team reached the spot and started efforts to rescue Pankaj and Manu.
