The hearing on the petitions regarding the irregularities in the NEET case has been postponed till July 18. The court has given time to the rest to respond to the affidavits of the Central Government and NTA. The first hearing of the case was held on July 8. Supreme Court to hear NEET UG Case

The Supreme Court is to hear the petitions regarding the irregularities in NEET-UG today. A day before this, the Center and NTA filed affidavits in the Supreme Court on Wednesday (July 10). The Center said in its affidavit that NEET counseling will start in the third week of July. Earlier the counselling process was deferred till further notice on July 6. Counseling will be done in four rounds.

The Center said that IIT Madras has done a data analysis of the NEET-UG results. According to the reply filed, there is no evidence of large-scale rigging in the exam. Nor have candidates from any one area been benefited. Therefore, we do not want to conduct the examination again.

Conducting retest would create Burden: Centre

The government said that conducting a retest on the basis of baseless suspicion will put a burden on about 24 lakh students who appeared in the exam on May 5. If any candidate has got any advantage in the exam, then his counseling will be canceled in any round or even after that.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the NEET exam, said in its affidavit that it has analyzed the marks distribution in NEET-UG 2024 at the national, state and city level.

Paper not leaked in all states: NTA

According to the NTA, the paper has not been leaked in all the states. Therefore, the entire exam should not be canceled. The NTA also said that they have received information about irregularities at some centers in Godhra and Patna.

The results of the candidates who took the exam here have been examined to find out how much the disturbance has affected. The investigation revealed that no candidate from such centers has scored unusually high. At the same time, the score of the candidates of these centers is also less than the national average score of the country.

The second hearing on the NEET controversy is to be held today in the Supreme Court before the bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud. Earlier, the CJI’s bench had heard the case for the first time on July 8. The court had sought a report from the four stakeholders related to the NEET controversy – NTA, CBI, Central Government and the petitioners demanding retest.
