Gravesend Gurudwara Sword attack: Teen attacks two with sword, held under ‘attempted murder’

A case of hate crime has come to light in a Gurudwara in Gravesend, UK. Here a 17-year-old minor attacked the devotees with a sword. Two Punjabi girls have been injured in this. They both have sustained injuries on their hands and arms.

The police have caught the accused with the help of the devotees. Videos of this have also surfaced. At present, the police is interrogating him. The accused teenager is a British citizen.

The incident came to light on Thursday evening (UK time) at Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara in Gravesend. According to eyewitnesses, the devotees were bowing their heads in the Gurudwara premises. During this, the accused teenager entered the Gurudwara premises posing as a Sikh devotee.

While bowing his head, he picked up the sword kept there. With the sword, he moved towards the devotees and started attacking them.

Two Punjabi girls were injured in this incident. One girl had an injury on her hand, while the other’s arm and hand were bleeding. They were taken to the hospital for treatment. The injured girls said that if the congregation had not controlled the accused, he would have killed them. He had come to the Gurudwara premises with the intention of killing them.

After the incident, the devotees present in the Gurudwara premises moved forward to stop the teenager. The police standing outside the Gurudwara premises also immediately came into action and controlled the teenager. During this, he was also given electric shock.

According to the police, the local resident informed the Kent Police about the incident. Police helicopters reached the spot immediately after the incident. Shortly after the incident, the air ambulance landed on the grounds of the Gurudwara and provided facilities to the injured.
