New Delhi: Giving no major relief to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi HC reserved an order on Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s plea challenging his arrest by CBI in the Excise case.
Meanwhile the Court also reserved the order on Interim bail of Arvind Kejriwal. The Court fixed July 29, for regular bail plea hearing. Court will hear the arguments by CBI on July 29 on the next date of hearing.
After a debate that lasted for about two and a half hours on Wednesday, the court said that the bail plea will be heard on July 29.
During the hearing in Justice Neena Bansal Krishna’s court against the arrest of Kejriwal by the CBI, Kejriwal’s lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi said – Arvind Kejriwal is the people’s elected Chief Minister, not a terrorist.
Singhvi mentioned former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan in the court. He said – Imran Khan was recently released, but he was arrested again in another case. This cannot happen in our country.
According to the news website Bar and Bench, CBI lawyer DP Singh said – There was an attempt to stop the investigation. Permission was not given to interrogate many officials of the Punjab government.
CBI arrested Arvind Kejriwal
Arvind Kejriwal was granted bail when the next day ED approached High Court and took a stay on the bail. Later in the same case of Delhi excise policy, CBI first interrogated Arvind Kejriwal and later took him under judicial custody.
