UP resident arrests in Punjab for extorting ransom in Uttarakhand

Police have registered a case against Sonu under the Arms Act.

Mohali Police has arrested an accused who used to supply illegal weapons at cheap rates from Aligarh in UP to various places in Punjab.

The accused has been identified as Sonu Kumar, a resident of Mubarakpur in Derabassi. Police recovered a.32-bore pistol, three country-made pistols of 315-bore, two live cartridges, and a double-barreled gun to the information given by Sonu.

The police arrested the accused based on secret information. Derabassi police station had registered a case against the accused under the Arms Act on July 12 and arrested him. Police have registered a case against Sonu under the Arms Act.

Mohali SSP Sandeep Garg said that during remand, the accused told them that he used to bring these illegal weapons from Aligarh at cheap rates and sell them at high prices in Punjab.

 

A police investigation has revealed that a case has been registered against the accused Sonu in Haldwani police station in the Nainital area of Uttarakhand for demanding ransom in the name of Lawrence Bishnoi by making a WhatsApp call to a jeweller. Regarding which, the police have also contacted the Haldwani police station. Police officials believe that after thorough interrogation of the accused, other cases related to illegal arms supply and ransom will also be revealed.
