Punjab Police arrest 3 drug smugglers in Bathinda, 1 kg heroin recovers

Heroin was ordered from Pakistan, and brought by car riders from Fazilka. 

Bathinda: In Punjab’s Bathinda district, police have arrested three drug smugglers with 1 kg of heroin. Apart from heroin, police have recovered drug money worth Rs 2.65 lakh and two cars from the accused.

It is being told that the seized heroin was brought to Bathinda from Fazilka district. Which was to be supplied further. At present, the police have started investigating this matter.

SSP Deepak Pareek told a press conference on Saturday that the police team of the Canal Colony police station was checking on the Sirhind Canal Ring Road. During this, the police team saw an Innova car parked on the track of the Sirhind Canal. When the police team searched the Innova car based on suspicion, 1 kg and 5 grams of heroin were recovered from two youths riding in it. He said that both the youths have been identified as Tarsem Singh, alias Sema, residents of Basti No. 2 Beed Talab Hall, Abad, SAS Nagar Bathinda, and Karanpreet Singh, residents of village Kathgarh, district Fazilka.

He said that on strict interrogation of both the smugglers, they admitted that they had brought the said heroin from Gunesh Singh, alias Gesu, a resident of Kathgarh district Fazilka. Police have also arrested smuggler Ganesh. The said heroin was to be sold in the Bathinda district as well as in the surrounding area.

He said that during the preliminary investigation, the police recovered drug money worth Rs 2.65 lakh and a Honda City car from Tarsem Singh. SSP said that Ganesh Singh, who sold heroin, is an old drug smuggler. Cases of drug smuggling are registered against him in three different police stations in the Fazilka district and two police stations in Sri Muktsar Sahib. The recovered heroin is worth crores of rupees in the international market.

It is being told that drug smuggler Ganesh ordered this heroin from Pakistan through a drone. He said that the three accused are being further questioned to find out which other smugglers are associated with them. He said that the police remand of the three accused has been taken for further interrogation.
