Jalandhar: Yesterday, on Sunday, a 55-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself in Jalandhar. The police have registered a case of abetment to suicide in this case. In this case, the deceased have been identified as Naval Kishore. Naval Kishore’s Son-in-law Balwinder Singh, Surinder Singh and one more acccued have been named by the police in this case. At present, Balwinder has been arrested by the police.
The deceased belonged to a Pandit family while his daughter had married Balwinder of another caste. He was very upset with this. A 3-page suicide note was also recovered from the deceased, on the basis of which the police of Maqsuda police station have registered a case. Statements of son Abhishek have also been noted by the police.
This incident took place late on Saturday night in Dheer Colony of Punjabi Bagh located on Jalandhar-Pathankot Road. The deceased was identified as Naval Kishore Upadhyay. The police have got his post-mortem done. Naval was originally from Bihar. He was living in Dheer Colony with his family for many years.
The deceased’s son Abhishek said that he and his mother had gone to Delhi on Saturday evening. From there they had a train to Bihar. At around 11 pm he spoke to his father on the phone. After this, when he called again at night to talk, his father did not pick up the phone. When the family got worried, the victim’s family sent a neighbor to their house. When the neighbor went there and saw, Naval Kishore was hanging from a noose in the house. Abhishek told that his father has also written a suicide note.
Abhishek had said that his younger sister had married a young man named Balwinder Singh 3 months ago. Balwinder Singh is not from their caste and his family was unhappy with this, and did not want to have any relationship with his sister. Abhishek also alleged that Balwinder Singh and his father Surinder Pal had their eyes on his property. Police have lodged the case and investigation has been initiated.
