Thar hits bike in Faridabad: Woman dies, man injures

Both were going to work for the company.

Faridabad: On Tuesday, a speeding Thar hit a woman and a man riding a bike in Faridabad, Haryana. The woman died in the accident, while the man was in critical condition. At present, the woman’s body has been kept in Badshah Khan Civil Hospital for a postmortem.

Digamber Pratap told me that his nephew Sumit was taking his co-worker Mamta Devi (45), a resident of Saran village, to work at Warler Wear Engineering Company located on Badkhal Pali Road on a Pulsar bike. As soon as their bike reached near Sainik Colony DAV School, an uncontrolled and speeding Thar car hit their bike. Sumit and Mamta fell on the road as soon as the collision took place.

Eyewitnesses told me that after the collision, three youths got out of the Thar. Instead of taking care of the woman and the man, they kept looking at the damage to the car. Mamta was bleeding profusely from the head, while Sumit’s hand was broken. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and took the Thar riders into custody. Sumit and Mamta were immediately taken to the hospital. There, the doctors declared Mamta dead, while Sumit was admitted.

Sub-Inspector Surendra, in charge of Sainik Colony Chowki, said that at present, the Thar has been seized and the Thar driver has been taken into custody. The complaint of the family members of the deceased woman is pending. Further action will be taken based on the complaint.
