Jalandhar: Phillaur police in Jalandhar has arrested three people with Rs 19.50 lakh during a high-speed check post. The arrested accused are residents of Ferozepur Cantt. They have been identified as Amit Kumar son of Jailesh Chand, Anil Kumar son of Lachman Das and Deepak Kohli son of Lachman Das. Information about the cash recovered from all the accused has been given to the Income Tax Department.
SHO Sukhdev Singh of Phillaur police station said that last night his police party had set up a blockade near Phillaur on the Jalandhar Panipat Highway. At around 11 pm, the police stopped a white WagonR car numbered (PB-05-AR-0472) at the check post for checking. During the search of the car, a bag was found in it, and a huge amount of cash was recovered from the bag.
On finding the cash, the police personnel present at the blockade immediately started videography on the spot and informed the higher officials about the matter. The police reached the spot and immediately seized the cash and asked them to show the documents of the cash. The three could not show any documents regarding the cash. When the cash taken out of the bag was counted at the police station, it turned out to be Rs 19,50,455.
According to the information received, when the three people in the car could not show any documents of the cash, the Income Tax Department was immediately informed about the matter by talking to the higher officials. After this further investigation was started by Income Tax Department officer TP Singh. Now the police is investigating the matter as to where the said money came from and to whom it was to be given.
