Protest against ‘Discriminatory Budget’: Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann joins Congress CMs skipping NITI Aayog meeting

INDIA Block had alleged that non-NDA ruled states have been ignored in the Union Budget for the financial year 2024-25 and after this Congress and DMK had announced to boycott the NITI Aayog meeting.

Chandigarh: Day after Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled states announced to boycott the NITI Aayog meeting on July 27, now AAP-led Punjab government Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has also decided to not attend the NITI Aayog meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Opposition parties termed the budget as ‘discriminatory’ and as a sign of protest, 4 CMs from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh and Telangana decided not to attend the meeting. Now CM Bhagwant Mann too has decided to join the fray.

Aam Aadmi Party has decided to support the stand of the INDIA block in this matter. Ever since the announcement of Union Budget, the opposition has said that the budget is appeasing NDA allies and has nothing to do with people of opposition-ruled states.

On not attending the NITI Aayog meeting, the Aam Aadmi Party said that AAP is very part of the INDIA bloc and they will unanimously support the stand of the bloc of boycotting the meeting.

Three Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled states – Revanth Reddy (Telangana), Siddaramaiah (Karnataka) and Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu (Himachal Pradesh) and DMK’s MK Stalin (Tamil Nadu) will not attend the NITI Aayog meeting on July 27.
