Gurdaspur: Punjab police Special Task Force (STF) and the Border Security Force (BSF) have arrest two drug smugglers by conducting a joint operation. In this joint search operation, heroin and weapons have been recovered from the accused. The condition in which the heroin was seized makes it clear that it was brought from across the border through drones.
BSF officils said that based on specific input regarding presence of criminals with contrabands in a border village of district Gurdaspur, BSF troops in collaboration with STF, Amritsar promptly planned and carried out a raid on suspected houses.
During the raid, at about 08:30 am, the troops successfully recovered 01 packet of suspected heroin (Gross weight- 540 grams), 01 Pistol alongwith 01 magazine & 05 live rounds, and apprehended 02 persons from village Agwan and village Rasulpur in Gurdaspur district. The narcotics were wrapped in yellow adhesive tape and an improvised nylon loop found attached to the packet indicated it to be dropped from a drone.
This meticulously planned and well coordinated operation started in the midnight hours and culminated into the significant recovery of narcotics, weapon with ammunition and apprehensions. Reliable information coupled with diligent efforts of the troops of BSF and STF, Amritsar resulting in this significant achievement underscores their resolution to spare no efforts in bringing the anti-national elements behind the bars and make Punjab a peaceful state.
