Chandigarh: After the start of online registration in Advanced Eye Center, now e-office will now be implemented in a big way in Chandigarh PGI. In October 2021, former PGI Director Professor Jagat Ram launched the e-office application. The purpose was to improve patient care and properly encourage patient-related services. It will bring transparency and speed up the work.
In a large institution like PGI, quick decision-making can make a difference in patient care. A recent order issued by PGI Deputy Director Pankaj Rai states that no physical files will be accepted in his office from September 1. Rai said that the number of OPDs is increasing every year, so the institute is upgrading its technology. So that waiting time and long queues can be reduced. Electronic payment facilities and appointment systems are already in place. PGI is also working on creating a QR code for patients. So that they can be helped in paying fees for different tests, they do not have to run from one counter to another.
The deputy director said that it has started a pilot project to separate attendance in OPD at its Advanced Eye Center. Online registration has started. Under this, patients from any location can register for OPD for a particular day and date at the Advanced Eye Center. This will save time spent standing in queues.
The order said that all concerned are informed that from September 1, only files sent through the e-office will be considered. E-office will speed up the functioning of the office and bring transparency and efficiency by reducing the delay in moving files forward. It enables fast movement of files at the click of a mouse.
Each OPD has 200 online registrations out of 500, and once the number is over, the system closes and the patient can register for the next day’s OPD. So far, the system is working well here. Patients don’t have to come early in the morning to stand in line. They are already registered and thus know the time slot. So it also impacts the OPD.
