Fatehabad scandal: Agent swindles Rs 35 lakhs promising work visas

Tea seller took 7 lakhs from lawyer; agent cheated 35 lakhs in the name of work visa.

Fatehabad: In Tohana of Fatehabad district, the owner of a tea canteen cheated a lawyer of lakhs of rupees in the name of passing the government job exam. At the same time, a visa immigration operator in the Jakhal area cheated a person from Sirsa of Rs 35 lakh. He was sent to Canada on a tourist visa in the name of a work visa. Police have registered a case in both cases and started an investigation.

Satbir, a resident of Rattatheh village, told in a complaint to the SP that a person named Aman runs a tea canteen in the Tohana Mini Secretariat. Who started luring him to get a government job with money. Satbir had filled out the form for Inspector in Punjab Excise in 2021, which the tea canteen operator was aware of. In October 2021, he gave the paper in Mohali, which did not go well, on which he was again deceived. Victim Aman has been practising in the Tohana Civil Court since 2017. He was also preparing for a government job.

Aman told Satbir to get the work done for Rs 13 lakh, but he did not have the money. After this, Aman said that he would give Rs 7 lakh in advance and the rest after the work. After the deal was fixed, Aman made Satbir meet Asha Ram of Tohana. After which Satbir gave Rs 6 lakh 30 thousand to the accused through different transactions. But his number did not come in the paper result, and Aman failed.

The accused did not return Aman’s money after this. He gave a check twice, which the bank did not accept. On Aman’s repeated demand for money, the accused returned one lakh rupees to him, while the remaining amount has not been given yet.

Satpal, a resident of Sirsa, told me that his son Gurjinder is married to Amanpreet in Jakhal. Gurjinder met Harpal Singh, a visa immigration operator of Jakhal, through his brother-in-law Parry Khippal. Who talked about sending both the husband and wife to Canada on work permits. They also talked about taking their daughter Rabjot along.

According to the complainant, the accused first refused but later said that this is possible for Rs 35 lakh. On which he made the payment in February 2023. The complainant alleges that he was sent to Canada on 10 March 2023, but after going there he came to know that he was sent to Canada on a tourist visa, due to which he was cheated. Jakhal police have registered a case and started an investigation.
