Fogging system to be installs at Chandigarh dumping ground to tackle smell problem

People living nearby will get relief from the foul smell; the target is to start in two months.

Chandigarh: The Municipal Corporation is now going to install a high-pressure fogging system at the dumping ground located at Daddu Majra in Chandigarh. This will provide relief to the people living nearby from foul smells. Its cost will be around Rs 28 lakh. The company has been given time to start it within 2 months. Let us tell you that ever since a compost plant was started this year to reduce the pile of garbage at this dumping ground, the stench in the area increased even more with the start of this compost plant. People were constantly complaining about it.

A Municipal Corporation official said that through this fogging system, fogging towers will be installed around the dumping ground. From which foam will be released into the air. Tower will have different types of perfume-like fragrances, which would not be harmful to health. The stench will be reduced due to this fragrance. This system will be automatic. In which a timer of 15–15 minutes will be installed.

However, this fogging system is a temporary arrangement. An integrated solid waste management plant is being prepared by the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute on the dumping ground. When this plant starts, the smell will disappear from here. Till this plant does not start, this fogging system will work. The people of Daddu Majra have been complaining about this smell to the Municipal Corporation for a long time. This temporary arrangement has been made to give them relief. So that they can breathe easily while living here.
