BBMB Chairman And Team Of Engineers Reached on Spot

If there is heavy rainfall in the catchment area, it can pose a threat to the dam. But 3 gates of Pandoh Dam are open,  regular water is being released from them. At present, BBMB management is releasing the water coming in Beas river and catchment areas directly outside the dam instead of filling it. The administration claims that there is no threat to the dam.

It is being told that water is flowing in less quantity in the tunnel going from Pandoh Dam to Baggi. Wood and other garbage has accumulated in large quantity at its entry point and  water is not able to drain out from the dam.

Two Gates Of BBMB Pandoh Project Jammed With Silt

Chief Engineer Bhakra Satluj Link (BSL) Project BBMB Sundernagar Sanjeev Dutt Sharma said that there is no need for anyone to panic due to the two gates of Pandoh Dam being Jammed. He said Adequate machinery has arrived to open them And  three gates out of five have working. Water will drain out from there. As much water is coming into the dam, the same amount is being discharged from here onwards.

He said that unexpected silt came into the river on August 1 after cloud burst in catchment area on the night of July 31st. This caused problems in opening the gate. This happened due to flash flood. On August 1, the silt filled up to 30 feet in just half an hour.
