Chandigarh: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to investigate the jail interview of gangster Lawrence Vishnoi, the killer of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, has made major revelations in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. In its investigation report submitted to the High Court, the SIT has said that the first interview of gangster Lawrence was done in the custody of Punjab Police while the second interview was done in Rajasthan jail.
The report of the SIT formed to investigate Lawrence’s jail interview was opened in the High Court on Wednesday. After the opening of this report, the claim of the DGP of Punjab Police that the interview was not done in Punjab jail has also been rejected. The SIT has said in its report that the first interview of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi took place in police custody in Kharar, Punjab.
Punjab DGP had rejected the claim
Gangster Lawrence’s interviews were released on 14 and 17 March in the year 2023. After which questions were raised on Punjab Police. After this, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav called a press conference. In which he claimed that the interview was not done from Bathinda or any jail in Punjab. Showing 2 pictures of Lawrence, the DGP had said – When Lawrence was brought to Bathinda jail, his hair was cut and he did not have a beard or moustache.
Lawrence Took murder responsibility in first interview
Lawrence’s first interview was broadcast on March 14. In which Lawrence confessed to getting Sidhu Moosewala killed. Lawrence said that Moosewala was getting involved in gang wars instead of singing. Moosewala was also involved in the murder of his college friend Akali leader Vicky Middukhera. That’s why he got him killed. According to the SIT report, this is the same interview that he gave from CIA custody.
In second interview showed Barrack
Lawrence also gave proof of doing the interview from inside the jail in his second interview. He also showed his barrack and told that he is not allowed to go out, but he gets the mobile and the signal too. Lawrence said in his interview that the jail guards rarely come and go at night, that’s why he is calling at night.
Lawrence also gave information about the mobile getting inside. According to Lawrence, mobiles are thrown inside the jail from outside. Many times the jail staff catches them, but most of the times the mobile reaches him.
Now Lawrence lodged in Gujarat jail
Gangster Lawrence is currently lodged in Gujarat jail in a case related to drug smuggling. He has been kept in high security jail in Sabarmati, Ahmedabad. Recently, the recording of his video call to wish Eid to a Pakistani don also went viral.
Black sheep in Punjab Police
Lawyer Gaurav, who filed a petition against the interview, said- It became clear in today’s hearing that there are black sheep in Punjab Police. Those who conducted this interview. This is not the work of any common man. However, efforts are being made to suppress it from the very beginning.
He told that the court has decided that whoever is involved in this case, direct action will be taken against them. At the same time, action will also be taken against the supervisors in this case. DGP will file an affidavit in this case. The next hearing of this case has been fixed on 5 September .
