Petrol Pumps to remain shut on Sundays in Ludhiana

At that time, the central government had assured that their commission would be increased after the elections, but now the government is again ignoring them.

Ludhiana: The Petrol Pump Dealers Association (PPDA) in Ludhiana has decided that every Sunday will be a weekly off. This decision will be implemented from August 18. PPDA has decided to keep the petrol pumps closed every Sunday to reduce their expenses. The central government has not been increasing their commission for the last 7 years, due to which the association is struggling.  At present, a 2 percent commission is being given while the demand is for 5 percent commission.

Giving information, President Ranjit Singh Gandhi said that the commission of people increases in all businesses, but the commission of petrol pump owners has not been increased for the last 7 years. Today, an item worth Rs 80 has reached Rs 120, but the government remains silent on increasing the commission of oil sellers.

He added that even 5 months ago, petrol pump owners had gone on strike by not buying oil. At that time, the central government had assured that their commission would be increased after the elections, but now the government is again ignoring them.

Gandhi said that emergency service will remain operational on weekly holidays. Ambulances and government vehicles will be provided with petrol or diesel. Currently, a meeting has been held at the district level today. Soon, meetings will be held at the Punjab level and state level so that the commission of petrol pump owners can be increased.
