In Himachal Pradesh Central agency investigate Samej-Parvati project

Experts on hydrology, dam safety, and hydropower will visit next week. 

Shimla: In Himachal Pradesh experts from central agencies will visit Samej, Malana, and Parvati projects. According to sources, a team has been drafted that will visit these areas by next week. Experts will see what kind of flaws are there in these projects and what safety measures should be adopted in case of a cloudburst. Experts will also give their report on how changes should be made in their design. According to sources, a list of officers joining this team from Himachal has been sent to the Chief Secretary, and approval has been sought on this. Cloudburst incidents have occurred at these places in Kullu and Shimla districts, due to which a lot of damage has been done in Himachal. Many people are still missing, and their search is going on. Many people have lost their lives in accidents. Every year, power projects are becoming a major cause of accidents, in which many questions are raised about dam safety. First, the Malana area will be visited, where there are two projects of Malana and every year during the rains, these projects cause damage. This time the projects have suffered a lot of damage here.

There is still no way to reach the project site, and a hanging bridge is being installed here. Experts will have to reach the project site with the help of this bridge. After this, the Parvati Phase III project will be visited, where many questions are raised about dam safety. This project is in the Sainj valley of Kullu district. At the same time, a major cloudburst incident took place in Samej of Shimla district, in which many people have died and many are still missing. Here too, two private projects have been damaged, while one is also included in the Ghanvi project of the Electricity Board. Experts will go to the spot and see the design of these projects and will give their report on what can be done here for dam safety. -HDM
