Final account reconciliation held for Jalandhar west assembly bye-poll in presence of expenditure observer

The teams of the accounting officers compared the expenditure registers of the candidates of several political parties along with Independent candidates. 

Jalandhar: As per the guidelines of Election Commission of India, final account reconciliation was held today on 26th day of declaration of result for the recent bye-poll of Jalandhar West Assembly Constituency in the presence of Expenditure Observer Expenditure Observer Minu Susan Abraham here at District Administration Complex.

The Expenditure Observer today conducted cross checking of the shadow expenditure registers with that of the registers being maintained by the contested candidates.

The teams of the accounting officers compared the expenditure registers of the candidates of several political parties along with Independent candidates.

During the cross checking the expenditure register and another record like cash book, bank voucher and bank statements were cross examined.

Notably, any candidate for the Assembly Elections could spend only Rs 40 lakh during the canvassing for the election. This expenditure was being monitored from the date of filing of nominations to the day of counting including winning procession by the successful candidate. The monitoring trams were ensuring that Shadow Observation Register was duly maintained which was being cross checked with that maintained by the candidates. On this occasion Additional Commissioner Jalandhar MCJ Amarjit Bains, Election Kanoongo Rakesh Kumar, Assistant Returning Officer Dr. Dinesh, Members of accounting teams were present.
