Former head Vikas Malik of Chandigarh HC Bar council grants bail in assault case

The argument went on for 2 hours in court.

Chandigarh: Former head of Chandigarh High Court Bar Council Vikas Malik has got bail from Chandigarh District Court today. He was lodged in Chandigarh jail for the last several days. A case of assault on a lawyer was registered against him on July 1. In this case, he was arrested by Chandigarh Police on July 13. After this, he was sent to Chandigarh jail. During the hearing today, there was a debate of about 2 hours between his lawyer, Tarmendra Singh, and the government lawyer.

Vikas Malik had filed his bail petition in the district court on July 26. During the last hearing, his lawyer said in court that Chandigarh Police has not yet given any evidence related to the injury of the victim’s lawyer to the court. Therefore, he should be granted bail.

The same government lawyer said that an investigation is still going on in this case. If the accused gets bail, he can tamper with the witness and evidence. Today’s date was fixed for a hearing by the court.

A High Court lawyer, Ranjit Singh, had filed a complaint in the case. In the complaint, he said that fighting a case against Vikas Malik and Swarn Singh.

He had come to the lawyer Vikas Malik’s office to serve a summons in connection with this case. But 7-8 people were sitting there. He knows some of them.

During this time, he was beaten up. The police had registered this case based on the complaint.
