Indian hockey team wins second consecutive Olympic bronze medal: defeat Spain 2-1

Both goals were scored by captain Harmanpreet; goalkeeper Sreejesh bids farewell with victory. 

Paris (France): The Indian hockey team has won the bronze medal of the Paris Olympics. Team India defeated Spain 2-1. Both goals were scored by captain Harmanpreet Singh. He is also the top scorer of the tournament with 10 goals.

This bronze medal match of the Olympics was the last international match of goalkeeper Sreejesh. He had announced his retirement even before the Olympics.

Sreejesh saved 11 penalty corners in the quarter-final match against Britain. This match went to a penalty shootout; in this too, he made 2 brilliant saves.

The Indian team has won the second consecutive bronze medal in the Olympics. In Tokyo, India won bronze by defeating Germany. This is the 13th medal for hockey in the Olympics.

Last minute of the match, Spain got a penalty corner, but goalkeeper PR Sreejesh saved the goal.

In the 53rd minute of the match, India’s Sukhjeet Singh was shown a card. He went out of the field for 2 minutes.
