Paris: Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat won the sixth medal for India in the men’s 57 kg wrestling event at the Paris Olympics by defeating Darin Toi Cruz of Puerto Rico. The Indian wrestler defeated the opponent by 13-5 in two rounds of three minutes each. Aman Sehrawat won the first bout by 6-3 and second bout by 7-3 without any problems. With Aman’s bronze medal in wrestling, the total medal tally of India in Paris Olympics 2024 has touched 6 with 5 bronze and 1 silver medal.
Earlier, Aman had shown a strong performance in the pre-quarterfinals and quarterfinals on Thursday but lost in a one-sided fashion to top-seeded Rei Higuchi of Japan in the semi-finals of the men’s 57kg freestyle category. Yesterday in the bronze medal match, he defeated his opponent Darin Toi Cruz and managed to bag the medal.
Achievement of Aman Sehrwawat is also commendable as it was his first Olympics and by winning bronze medal at the age of 21, Aman has also become the youngest ever to win a medal.
