Ludhiana: A social worker in Ludhiana has been accused of raping a woman. When the woman became pregnant, the social worker started threatening to kill her. In this case, the police of Thana Division Number 2 have registered a case against the accused, Chetan Baveja, a resident of Sector 32 Chandigarh Road, under Section S 64,351(2)BNS.
The victim woman told the police on August 12 that she used to work in the office of accused Chetan Baveja, located near Cheema Chowk. The accused gave her some intoxicant in a cold drink. When she became unconscious, the accused had physical relations with her.
The victim told the police that when she regained consciousness and opposed the accused, the accused started promising to marry her. According to the victim, the accused kept having physical relations with her repeatedly by giving false promises of marriage. When she became pregnant, the accused started threatening to kill her. ASI Kulwant Singh, who is investigating this case, said that the police are continuously raiding to arrest the accused.
On the other hand, Chetan Baveja says that the woman and her two companions demand a ransom of Rs 25 lakh from him. He has also complained in this regard to the Ludhiana Police Commissioner and Police Station Division Number 7. He demands from Police Commissioner Kuldeep Chahal that an impartial investigation should be conducted in this case.
