Ludhiana: After Civil Surgeon Dr. Jasbir Singh Aulakh, despite having VIP invitation, was denied entry at district level Independence day event in PAU on Thursday, the Commissioner of Police Kuldeep Singh Chahal suspended a sub-inspector and an assistant sub-inspector on Friday.

The police personnel involved, identified as Sub-Inspector Jaspal Singh and ASI Jaspal Singh, have been ordered to report to the Police Lines.

According to the Civil Surgeon, he was not only denied entry despite of showing his Identity card as well as VIP invitation but he was also manhandled by the cops.

Dr. Jasbir Singh stated that he arrived at the venue at 8:40 AM on Thursday. Despite showing his identity card and VIP invitation to the officers, they not only denied him entry but also misbehaved with him, claiming his name was not on the guest list they had.

“ASI Jaspal Singh allegedly grabbed him by the arm and pushed him out of the gate,” he said while adding that he felt humiliated, left the premises and later filed a written complaint with Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney. He also requested the DC to establish a protocol for local top officials.

After Civil Surgeon’s complaint, Sawhney wrote to Commissioner of Police, urging him to identify and take stern action against the officers responsible for disrespecting and harassing the Civil Surgeon.

However, Commissioner of Police promptly suspended both officers on Friday and initiated a departmental investigation.

The Commissioner also directed Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP, Operations) Ramandeep Singh Bhullar to complete the investigation within a month and submit a report. The Commissioner stated that the conduct of the police personnel was a clear example of negligence.
