Ransom gang busts in Amritsar: Three held for book shop attack, Portugal link revealed

The police had received information that two bike riders had fired bullets at the owner of Master Book Shop located in the Mehta police station area. Police registered a case in this regard. In this case, on the instructions of DIG Badar Range Satinder Singh and SSP Amritsar Rural Charanjit Singh, police teams were formed under the leadership of Mehta police station in-charge P Jandiala.

Police teams thoroughly searched all the CCTV cameras of the incident site. During the investigation, three accused, Navraj Singh alias Nava, son of Manohar Singh, resident of Nath Khuhi police station, Gurpreet Singh alias Billa, son of Kuldeep Singh, and Gagandeep Singh alias Gagan Vasiyan Mahsampura police station Mehta, have been arrested.

Initial investigation revealed that the three arrested accused are associated with the gang of Balwinder alias Doni and Manpreet alias Mann Ghanshampur (who are currently in Portugal). Arrested Gurpreet Singh alias Billa said that Jobanjeet alias Billa resident Arjan Manga was also present with him at the time of the incident; raids are being conducted for his arrest.

During interrogation, it was also revealed that both Navraj and Gurpreet were in contact with Manpreet alias Mann Ghanshampur through WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal, and Mann Ghanshampur had also transferred Rs 18000 to Gurpreet alias Billa through UPI. It was also told by Gurpreet alias Billa that he is also planning to murder a woman in Ghanshampur Tanda Hoshiarpur.

This entire gang was being run from Portugal, after which the police are also investigating its backward and forward links. There are already 13 cases going on against the accused in various police stations.
