Ravneet Bittu will file his papers for the Rajya Sabha elections on August 21, i.,e. today.

New Delhi: BJP candidate and Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu filed his nomination on Wednesday for the Rajya Sabha by-election in the state. BJP’s central leadership had declared Bittu as the Rajya Sabha candidate from Rajasthan on Tuesday itself.

CM Bhajanlal Sharma, Deputy CM Diya Kumari and Premchand Bairwa became proposers. Ravneet Singh Bittu filed four sets for nomination. At the same time, 40 MLAs including independent MLAs became proposers and seconders.

Going to Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan is almost certain, because Congress is not fielding its candidate in these elections. In such a situation, Bittu’s unopposed victory is considered certain.

After nomination, Ravneet Singh Bittu said that this debt of Rajasthan will remain on him. I will never let any stain come on the turban of Rajasthan and Punjab, said Bittu. He said that other parties did not field candidates from Rajasthan, this is a big victory for BJP. Punjab has been both my birthplace and karmabhoomi and Rajasthan has also become my karmabhoomi.

After being announced as the Rajya Sabha candidate from Rajasthan by the BJP, Bittu said, ‘I am very grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda and the respected leadership of the BJP for electing me. The Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan has shown confidence in me by nominating me. I promise to work tirelessly to make my great country and party proud. With your support I will strive to uphold the values and principles of our Constitution and contribute to the progress and prosperity of our country.”

Ravneet Bittu, a two-time Member of Parliament from Ludhiana, left the Congress and joined the BJP before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Bittu is the grandson of former Punjab Chief Minister late Beant Singh and son of former minister Tej Parkash Singh.
