Ludhiana: As per the information received, there was a ruckus in the Central Jail in Ludhiana, Punjab last night. Some inmates had a tiff over minor issue of tea which later turned into a big clash. The matter escalated so much that some undertrials together hit a steel can on the head of an undertrial.

Hearing the commotion, the jail security personnel reached the spot and rescued the injured. He was first taken to the jail hospital in an injured state. But seeing his condition deteriorating, the injured was immediately brought to the civil hospital in a blood-soaked condition where he got 6 stitches on his head.

Giving information, the injured undertrial Gurpreet Singh said that he went to jail about 2 months ago for buying a stolen mobile. 2 days ago he had an argument with another undertrial in the jail. Due to this the said undertrial, along with his companions, attacked him with a steel can while he was taking tea late Friday evening.

According to Gurpreet, this fight took place in front of the jail security personnel. At present, he has been admitted to the civil hospital. The doctors got a CT scan of his head done. In this regard, the Central Jail Police has informed the police of Police Station Division 7 about the matter.
