Ludhiana:
Posing as CBI officers, the four imposters barged into a house in Panchsheel colony at Barewal Road and robbed the two men of cash and mobile phones allegedly at gunpoint.
However, the Sarabha Nagar police have cracked the case and arrested three miscreants. The police have also recovered two mobile phones and a car in which the accused fled after robbing the amount.
The arrested accused have been identified as Tamandeep alias Ginni of Ghah Mandi Jalandhar, Vipan Kumar alias Vipan of Smart Enclave Basti Danesh Banda of Jalandhar and Sushil Kumar of Basti Shekh of Jalandhar. The fourth accused identified as Rajit is yet absconding.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP – Ludhiana West) said that the police had received a complaint from Panchsheel resident Harish Kumar, who runs a grocery store and also a money exchange unit, that when he along with his friend Mehboob Ali were present in the house on August 31 afternoon, four miscreants turned up and while introducing themselves as CBI officers, they barged into the house and held them captive.
According to the complainant, the accused on pretext of searching home, robbed them of cash of Rs 40000 and when they found matter suspicious and objected to it, the accused flashed a gun and then fled from the house.
ACP said that after learning about the matter, the team of Inspector Pawan Kumar, SHO, Sarabha Nagar police station initiated investigation into the matter and on Sunday arrested three Jalandhar based residents.
Inspector Pawan said that no weapon has been recovered yet. “We will question the accused after getting their remand and will try to ascertain that the weapon claimed by the complainant was a real weapon or toy pistol. We will also try to nab the fourth accused and will recover the robbed cash as well,” he said while adding that as of now no previous criminal record of the accused have come to light.
A case under sections 204, 332, 305, 308, 351 (2) of BNS was registered against the accused at Sarabha Nagar police station.
