Punjab: Bhadaur girl dies of cardiac arrest in Canada, seek govt help to bring back body

Bhadaur: A girl from village Bhadaur who went to Canada on a student Visa in December last year died due to cardiac arrest. The bereaved family is pleading with the government to bring the body of the girl back to Punjab for last rites. The girl’s father Paramjit Singh said that he is a private.

Bhadaur: A girl from village Bhadaur who went to Canada on a student Visa in December last year died due to cardiac arrest. The bereaved family is pleading with the government to bring the body of the girl back to Punjab for last rites.

The girl’s father Paramjit Singh said that he is a private truck driver in Trident and had sent his daughter to Canada for higher studies last year. The girl was living in Surrey along with other girls. When the roommates came to her room, they saw the dead body of Gurmeet Kaur (22) and immediately informed the police. The police contacted the family and told them that their daughter had died suddenly. The deceased girl has been identified as Gurmeet Kaur and reportedly died due to cardiac arrest.

The police handed over the belongings of the girl to an acquaintance of the girl’s family and kept the body of the girl in the mortuary. Upon getting the information about their daughter’s demise, the family members are in a bad condition.

The family said that the cost of Rs 14-15 lakhs is being told to bring the dead body to Punjab. The family citing their financial condition pleaded both state and central government that they can not afford the estimated cost and requested to bring back the body of a girl to perform the last rites here in Punjab.
